Wire Beaded Beads, Mary Winters-Meyer. In this class, we’re going to kick back and have some fun with a very simple technique for making beaded beads with seed beads and wire. Guess what? No needles or thread required! You will, however, need some wire cutters.
Materials needed:

12 of Karen DeSousa’s books, 6 copies of Beaded Ornament Covers and
6 copies of the Celestial Series. Both of these contain patterns for making
beaded covers for glass ball ornaments. There is still one copy of each
unclaimed. These will be available for purchase at 35% off the standard

I haven’t gotten enough commitments yet to get the discount on her
kits. I need at least $250 in kit purchases to get the 15% discount. We
can still do this if enough people are interested, so please let me know
if you are interested in the kits, as well as how many and/or the amount
you would be spending. (The $250 minimum is before the discount, but the
purchases do not all have to be the same kit.)
Call for teachers! We still need teachers for the monthly programs for this year. If you are interested in teaching a class, please let Mary or Cindy know.
Call for articles! Just wanted to remind everyone that I’d be happy to run articles in the newsletter written by someone other than me! If you have a tip or trick to share, would like to review a book, or have other article ideas, please feel free to send them in to the Society email address (hoibs@beadartistry.com) for inclusion in the next issue!

I am the editor of a new Lark Book titled 500 Glass Beads. This gallery-style book will feature the best in contemporary glass bead making, with beads in singles, multiples, beads in context, and sculptural pieces. I am interested in placing a call for submissions with your organization. A jury will select the slides for inclusion in the book.
Here is the information:
500 Glass Beads, a new Lark Book publication, will feature a juried selection of breathtaking beads in singles, multiples, or sculptural pieces. This gallery book will include both lampworked and furnace worked beads. Glass artists are invited to submit color slides or transparencies (no digital images, please) of original work in this medium. Featured artists will receive full credit and a complimentary copy of the book.
Entries must be postmarked on or before June 1, 2003. No fee is required.
